Dinner and accommodation at a hotel.

DAY 5:After breakfast, our shuttle will pick you up at the hotel to start our tour of the day. La Isla de la Plata is located 50 km off the coast of Puerto Lopez, in the Manabi province. It is one of the biggest attractions of the Machalilla National Park. His fame goes back for many years and its main feature is the diversity of birds that inhabit this place.
From Puerto Lopez we board our boat which takes us on a journey (about 40 minutes) to the Isla de la Plata. Due to its scenic beauty Isla de la Plata is a ideal place for ecotourism. It has an area of 1200 hectares. And since 1979 the Machalilla National Park features two tourist trails (about 3km and 3 hours long). Let´s hike them along under the supervision of a licensed naturalist guide.
The Island is an important feeding ground for many species of shorebirds, including pelicans or frigates. This all protects the only known population of waved albatross off the Galapagos Islands. In addition, the humpback whale has its breeding area within the Machalilla Park and around the island.
Around the Isla de la Plata we can visit the Punta Machete and Punta Escalera, where you can watch birds, the typical flora of the area, the beautiful cliffs and sometimes even sea lions, sharks and huge manta rays.
Additionally you can do water sports like snorkeling or scuba surface activities, recommended due to the many coral reefs. From the months June to September another attraction is the presence of the humpback whales of the Antarctic. Isla de la Plata is a ideal place for mating and birth of the young whales. Accommodation in Puerto Lopez in a hotel.

DAY 6:After breakfast we drive to our next destination, the communities of Pile and Montecristi. In Piles, 40 minutes away from Montecristi, we find the legendary straw hat weavers, the true inventors of this art. We have the opportunity to visit the community and interact with them. After that we drive to Montecristi. This town is famous for being the birthplace of the famous revolutionary liberal Eloy Alfaro, which is located at the foothills of Montecristi. The town is also known for their straw hats, tagua, wicker and other things. In the afternoon we head to Manta to enjoy the afternoon on the beach of San Lorenzo.
