DAY 1: IN SEARCH OF THE GIANT TORTOISE

Having been met by English- speaking naturalist guide at Baltra airport, you will cross the narrow Itabaca channel to Santa Cruz Island, heading up to the farm in the highlands for a delicious lunch. Then you will have the opportunity to explore the area´s vegetation and microclimates, as well as pit craters and lava tunnels to become acquainted with its Scalesia and Guayabillo forests. At the tortoise reserve you will experience the emblematic giant tortoises in their natural habitat, in addition to the abundant bird life of the highlands. Your afternoon will conclude at Galapagos Safari Camp, with a sunset cocktail follow by dinner.

DAY 2 &3: CRUSSING TO A NEIGHBOURING ISLAND

After an early wake-up call, a boat will take you to one of the inhabited neighboring islands: North Seymour, Bartolome, Santa Fe or South Plazas. Each Island has its own unique natural habitat, and you will be guided through the evolutionary phenomena of your destination. The Galapagos Marine Reserve is the second largest marine reserve in the world, and snorkeling of the boat is definitely a highlight. Alternatively, if you are a SCUBA certified, we can replace one or more day trips with diving excursions.

DAY 4: EXPLORING THE EAST

In the morning you will be driven to the eastern part of the island, at 490 Mts above the sea level, Cerro Mesa, offers spectacular views and boasts the largest crater on Santa Cruz Island, it is home to a number of endemic plants, as well as seven subspecies of finch and the vermilion flycatcher. After lunch you will visit Garrapatero beach, where the contrast of mangroves, black lava, white sand and turquoise water, along with its bird life and flamingo lagoon, is magnificent. Kayaking and mountain biking are optional activities.

DAY 5: SUNRISE WALK AND DEPARTURE

On your last day you can tour Galapagos Safari Camp at leisure and enjoy the sunrise at the view point before your airport transfer.
